This is Schwartz and Wade's very first graphic novel. I hope it won't be their last!
Schwartz & Wade sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you). I was looking forward to it; I enjoy graphic novels. This one was very good. Paul Hoppe is the illustrator and he does a very nice job. You can grab a copy of this book at your local bookstore now.
Sadie is not excited about moving to a new school. No one will know her, no one will care about her, and it can be hard to make friends. What she decides to do is try something that will gain her attention. She'll pretend she has a peanut allergy. After all, you can die from that and not everyone has it, so it will make her unique and important, right? Yes and no...
She gets attention, but it's not attention she wants. Everyone is trying to save her and she has no idea how many things have peanuts in them. She tries to stay vigilant but, like any lie, the truth eventually comes out.
I enjoyed this story; it speaks to me. All Sadie wanted to do was fit in. She has one good friend that sticks with her and she has to live with the consequences of her actions, but life goes on. The story has an upbeat feeling and the graphics reflect the situations and emotions Sadie feels.
Happy reading.
