B & H Books and Net Galley allowed me to download an ebook of this story for review (thank you). It will be published the first of September, so watch for it then. There are two earlier books in this series, so why not read them while waiting?
Chloe is fond of everyone in the Amish community, even those with weird quirks and odd habits. She can see through to the good and tries to ignore the bad. When the young woman they find dead in the snow belongs to one of the most self-contained families, there are no clues for the police. The family won't even accept the baskets of goods people are trying to bring them to ease their loss.
Initially, the police believe a long icicle that hit her head caused her death, but it's not so. She was strangled; she also had signs of being beaten in the past. When the police chief asks Chloe to use her charms with the Amish people to help discover the murderer, she's glad to. She feels very bad for young dead girl and wants to put the killer away. Unfortunately, as she keeps digging under rocks for clues and knowledge, she digs up a lot of other dirt. She also still has Curt hanging around.
You won't be bored reading this book. I think it's her best one so far.
