She was raised in a bar and they lived in the room above the bar. Her father was the owner of the bar and she played on the floor not far from the drinkers. She's an excellent bartender and now that her father was murdered, she owns the bar. While that's unusual, she has one more talent that's even more exclusive...
Kensington Books sent me an ARC of this book for review (thank you). It's being published this month, so you check for a copy at your local bookstore. This is the debut of a new series and it's a good one, too.
Mack's talent (or curse, depending on your point of view) is that she often sees colors or has a taste that enhances her senses. That makes looking at crime scenes confusing because she doesn't just see what we do; she sees more.
This was interesting mystery. I enjoyed reading about her talent, liked the hot cop (whose voice tasted like chocolate) and I could see no reason for the murders. The story flows well, the romance fluctuates, and the murderer was not what I would have expected. There's even a touch of Al Capone in it to add some more confusion.
The first in the series was a pretty good mystery and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Mack. I'm hoping we'll be seeing more of Duncan, too.
Happy reading.
