Edie's Ensembles by Ashley Spires

Edie is a clothes horse.  She absolutely loves her clothes and the outfits she can make with them.  Each day at school is a new adventure.  There's nothing wrong with that, right?

Tundra Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published in mid-October, so keep an eye out for it then.

There are marvelous illustrations and Edie and Andrew are cute characters.  Edie's fashion consciousness is harmless enough at first.  Then she gets obsessed.  She makes weirder and weirder costumes and is happy that folks are talking about her, even if it is sarcastic comments.

She gets so into it that she forgets about Andrew and is living in her own little world.  When she gets stuck in the school door and no one comes to rescue her, she realizes she's gone overboard.  She's lost not only herself in this costume wearing, but she's lost Andrew.  It's not too late; she can make things better.

It's a sweet story and it makes the point that the clothes don't make the person.  Who you are is more important than what you're wearing.
