Blessed are the Meek: A Gabriella Giovanni Mystery by Kristi Belcamino

Gabriella has fallen in love with Sean.  This should be good news, but when an old flame comes back into his life it appears she still has some appeal for him.  She certainly can ask for his help and get it.

Witness Impulse and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.  This is the second in this series, so check out the first one, too.

Gabriella is an impulsive journalist who will do whatever it takes to get the whole story.  She wants to know who, what and why and the gory details.  This search for knowledge can get you in a lot of trouble.  It can also open the door on things you didn't want to know...

When people start dying, Gabriella wants to know why.  When she busts a Mayoral party on the Mayor's invitation, she's brought up short by finding Annalisa and Sean at the same party.  Neither she nor Sean expected to see the other there.  It gets even worse when she escapes the party and then gets accused of killing the Mayor!

This is complex case that points back to the past.  When they jail Sean for the murder, she really digs into things.  She asks Sean for info, but he won't tell her.  He just says things will work out.

The climax in this mystery is amazing.  I had the feeling I knew who the killer was, but I couldn't have foreseen this ending ever.  It took my breath away.  The only unresolved issue is what Sean was hiding; a secret from his past.  Will this drive Garbriella away from Sean?  Or will she accept it?  We're going to have the next book to find out...
