Stick Cat: A Tail of Two Kitties by Tom Watson

Once their humans go to work, the two cats meet by the bathroom cabinets.  They have created a hole in the wall and Edith can crawl through to hang out with Stick Cat.  Cats like company, so it keeps them quiet and happy while their humans are away...

HarperCollins and Edelweiss gave the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published May 3rd.

Edith is having a hard time getting through the hole and Stick Cat has to help.  He knows she's gaining weight but he tells her it's her thick hair.  (He's a smart cat.)

They are listening to the piano turner testing the piano next door.  He plays music when he's done adjusting.  Just then there is an accident in the street below and the top of the piano comes down on his arms.  How can Stick Cat save him?

Edith has lots of ideas but she's really an airhead.  She thinks they ought to hang onto pigeon legs and have them fly across.  Sure, cats and birds get along great (no!).  Stick finally comes up with the idea of using the apron on the next door laundry line and scooting it across to the other building.  That works but lifting the piano lid is impossible.

Edith gets bored so she sits down and shifts around to get comfortable.  She scares Stick by yelling about her butt talking!  Turns out she'd butt dialed the piano turner's boss.  He shouts asking for help and Stick and Edith race for the window.

Bad news, the neighbor is baking bread and has taken the apron off the line.  Now what?

This is a fun entertaining read and poor Stick Cat has trouble with Edith the whole story.  He does make it back home safely but you begin to wonder if he will!
