New Beginnings: Book Two in the Growing Pains Series by KP Smith

Kendra is in high school and it's awful.  There are a lot more students, she doesn't know most of them, and she's shy anyway.  She eats her lunch out under a tree outside so she doesn't have to brave the lunchroom.  Then her little sister talks her into going in to lunch like everyone else.  The first time she goes, another student runs into her and knocks her food all over them both and the floor.  She's mortified...

The author sent me a copy of this story in ebook form (thank you).  It has been published and you can grab a copy now.

This is the second book in this series and Kendra is facing new challenges.  Her old boyfriend has broken up with her, she's trying out for cheerleader, and she trying to make new friends.  It's hard but she's getting better at it.  It doesn't help when the head cheerleader hates her but she's making it work.

Then she meets a boy that fascinates her.  He's interested in her, too.  She thinks she's found love but she's also got trouble.  He's a quarterback at a different school.  She wants her team to win but she wants Hunter to win, too.  When his last pass gets intercepted and he loses, she's busy with her schoolmates.  He decides he better focus on football since she won't support him.

In the meantime, her father has a new girlfriend.  They're living with their grandfather, who is a bit crabby and manages to fall and break his hip.  The mother's brother shows up with his wife and decides to move back in the area to help with his father.  Her mother isn't happy with that.  Everyone is fighting and it wears her out.

There's a real cliff hanger at the end of this story.  I personally don't like those.  Tease me with some details but don't drop me off the cliff.  It does set up the theme for the next book, though.  Kendra's love life is not boring.
