All the stories had the flavor of the past because the authors were from the past and most of their work was forgotten.

Mrs. Todhetley's Earrings by Ellen Wood was amusing. Her husband and the maid think that the old woman she visited with at the gate took her missing earring. The wife didn't. The police said they would look into and told her husband not to advertise for it. He ignored them as much as he did his wife and the ending is quite ironic. I loved it.
The Statement of Jared Johnson by Geraldine Bonner was another good one. Finally someone listened to him.
Missing: Page Thirteen by Anna Katherine Green is a bit of a shocker. She was looking for a missing manuscript page but that's not all she found...
The last story in the book, A Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell" has another ironic ending and is good reading.
I enjoy short stories and those that twist around and challenge me are even more fun. This book is full of good stories that will make you both laugh and cry but you won't be bored.
