Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl

Her boyfriend died in his senior year.  She mourned him for months and now a friend of hers has asked her to come stay with them at an old house close to the quarry.  Does she know her friends as well as she thinks she does?  She knows he didn't commit suicide even if that's what the police think.

Delacourte Sent me an ARC of this book to read for review (thank you).  It will be published June 5th.

This is a strange story.  Beatrice and her six friends are caught up in a circle of time.  They have so much time awake and so much time asleep.  They keep living the same moments over and over no matter where they go or what they do.  They've been told they all die in an accident but one survives.  They have to decide who the survivor will be and it has to be unanimous.  They don't manage a unanimous vote, so they are stuck in the circle.

The longer they are there, the more secrets come out.  Many of them are ugly secrets.  Even her boyfriend had some.  Then they learn how to reverse time and go into the past.  She decides to go back to the evening her boyfriend and see how it happened.  She finds much more than she expected...

The tension never lets up.  To me, it seems the ending was a bit flat.  You won't guess how it all works out, though, so it was an interesting read.
